WHAT’S UP WENZDAY POINT #1: A NOTE OF CLARIFICATION —
The most EXCITING thing happened to me last week. I won a giveaway! This is amazing, because I think I’ve entered like maybe three of them in my entire time blogging, which admittedly is less than a year, BUT STILL! I’m totally a winner!
The coolest part of winning is not actually the prize — which is NOT to say the prize isn’t awesome-sauce, because it certainly IS!!! The coolest part of winning this particular giveaway is that it was hosted by someone I have buddied up with in the writing world, someone who impresses the socks off me, someone who has become my idol in the world of indie authors.
The author of which I speak is Sheenah Freitas.
I was won a signed, limited paperback edition of her anthology MUSINGS FROM YESTERYEAR which is now only available via Kindle.
In addition to penning novels, Sheenah created, owns, and runs her own small press called Paper Crane Books, where in addition to self-publishing, services offered include formatting, proofreading, cover design, and web design.
I don’t know how Sheenah does it. Simply put, I am in awe of this woman’s energy and talent. I can’t wait to dive into my prizes and enjoy reading her books!
WHAT’S UP WENZDAY POINT #2: MY HAPPINESS PROJECT—
I’m taking a hiatus from my Happiness Project this week. I will definitely be back on track next Wenzday with stunning new adventures, or at least boring, personal updates, in my journey toward joy and inner peace. My simple goal at this juncture, between now and next Wenzday, is not to bite anyone’s head off. Seems simple enough. Keep in mind — Happy is a Choice!
WHAT’S UP WENZDAY POINT #3: MY WIPPY-DOODLE!
I almost didn’t update this section, either. I’m woefully behind — as in, several thousand words behind — my anticipated word count. I considered throwing in the towel, but a couple readers encouraged me to keep going, regardless of whether or not I catch up. As my hubz pointed out, I still have more of this book written than if I’d skipped the project altogether, and by the end of November, I will definitely have accomplished a writing feat even if I only hit HALF my goal.
Sheenah Freitas is only aiming to hit 25,000 words this month, because she is inundated with several other projects. While I certainly can’t claim her level of busy, I can comfortably take a bite out of her method and maybe cut myself some slack. So, I’m going to try and catch up, but not beat myself up if I fall short. It’s the journey, not the destination, right? And every word puts me that much closer to those magical words, “THE END”.
WHAT’S UP WENZDAY POINT #4: BONUS MATERIAL —
My 7-year-old and I just watched the film MIRROR MIRROR which I thoroughly enjoyed. Maybe because I watched it with my daughter? I had heard it wasn’t a keeper, but we thought it was fun. We particularly liked the song which played during the final credits.
Bedside Table: One by an author who remains in my top ten favorites: FUZZY NATION by John Scalzi. If you haven’t read anything by him yet, you should run-don’t-walk to your local library and check him out. He’s fabulous!
- Living Room: My prizes from Sheenah Freitas, of course!
Desk: PLOT & STRUCTURE by James Scott Bell and SAVE THE CAT by Blake Snyder. While I own one, the other is going to be overdue from the library soon. I need to just buy the damn thing, it’s been so useful!
- iPod (audio book): OUT OF OZ by Gregory Maguire. ***Loving it!***
- With Abbie: The second novel in the Chronicles of Narnia, by C.S. Lewis — PRINCE CASPIAN.
And that’s what’s up Wenzday.
Hope your Hump-Day is full of hump-ish good times.
I’d love to hear what’s up with YOUR Wenzday!
