Mondays Are the Shizzle

I absolutely LOVE-LOVE-LOVE me some Mondays! I love Monday

I know, this goes way against the grain for most people. But I’m not even lying, I am almost giddy when that new week starts up. Rather than dreading the “back to work” grind, I view every Monday as a weekly opportunity to start all over. I’m a clean slate kind of girl, so Monday is like Day #1 for all things schedule-related.

Start a new diet?

Wait till Monday and dive in at the beginning of the week.

Skip out on exercise this week?

There’s always Monday to get back into the groove.

writers blockWord count stagnating?

Monday will get it moving again.

House a wreck?

Start cleaning on Monday.

Two of my Andi Commandments are:

Every day can be Day #1.

Don’t stop starting.

What this means to melindor chocolate

is that whatever I screw up today, I have a chance to fix or change tomorrow. And I can keep on doing that every week. Imagine all those do-overs, just sitting all nicely wrapped in shiny foil like Lindor chocolates in a candy dish. Have another? Yes, please!

It’s not that I want to dodge responsibility,

so much as I do want to avoid beating myself up overly much. Guilt, self-pity, and that all-encompassing why even bother attitude are dangerous feelings for me to keep around — in my experience they lead me down a path that borders right alongside the edge of a precipice called DEPRESSION. I don’t like that planet; I’ve visited and the people there are not eager to let their prisoners go. I only barely escaped by the skin of my nose the last time I stopped by. I’ve ripped up my visa and I’m never, ever going there again.

Try again tomorrowSo instead of focusing on how much I suck

for screwing up yet another hare-brained plan that I probably shouldn’t have even tried in the first place cuz gosh I know how much I suck… yeah, instead of all that loud, obnoxious negativity, I prefer to concentrate on improvement and growth. I can only do that from a standing position, not a cowering posture. After a (short) stern lecture, I let it go. And tomorrow, I try again.

Clean slate.

But I’d be lying if I said that’s the only reason I adore Mondays.

More awesome even than a do-over, Mondays provide for clean scheduling. God knows I love an agenda, a list, a plan. I have a secret love affair with my skadoolie, which is nothing more than a calendar decorated with various shades of Sharpie.

Monday is when I get back on track. Power Up

Monday is when I get busy. Monday is when a great cosmic SOMETHING pushes my “power up” button and puts me on Go-Mode. Monday is when I rub my hands together in glee and jump into the fray, whatever that means, for the coming week. Monday is a re-set, wherein all my computer game lives are stocked up again, my manna gets full, and my potions are topped off.

Monday, fwends, is the absolute *shizzle*!

NOTE:

I started this entry way back when I was still working a full-time job outside the home. This is how you can tell I’m not being an obtusely crazy stay-at-home-mom / housewife / domestic engineer with nothing but time on her hands. As a matter of fact, although I just blathered on in great drooling fashion regarding how much a love Mondays, you should be aware that I loved them more when I was working than I do now that I’m home. My schedule is kind of my own, now, so I can start over any daggone day I please. But that should not take away from the fact that the start of the week is incredible. Because seriously, it is still the shizzle. An alarm on my iPoodle goes off every Monday morning to remind me of this fact, so it must be true. Go get yourself a nice cuppa Monday — you won’t be sorry!
